TRADITION
The roots of our winery go back to the year 1642. The more recent history of the company begins in 1989, when my parents Reinhard and Beate founded their own winery. That was not an easy time - the Terrassenmosel was almost unknown in the wine world. Due to the early death of my father in 2008, immediately after my studies, I took on responsibility. Small but fine - the focus on the quality of our wines, that was always our motto. We are now a member of the VDP. Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates and can count ourselves among the best wineries in Germany.
STYLE IDEA
We see ourselves as companions to our wines: companions with an idea, a goal, a style concept: deep terraced Mosel Rieslings with fine elegance and powerful expression.
TERRASSENMOSEL
The terraces tower impressively between the slate rocks. Our vines grow here under special conditions: we grow wine on extremely steep slopes. 400 million years ago, in a distant chapter of the earth's history, the Devonian period, there was a primeval ocean in the area of today's Moselle. Thick layers of sediment formed in it, several kilometers high.
The ancient ocean was pushed together between the continental plates and the sea floor was compressed under enormous pressure and high temperatures. The sediments became shale, which eventually folded into a mountain range. When the ancient continents of Gondwana and Laurussia collided, the foundations of today's ground formations were created.
NATURE | CULTURE | SUSTAINABILITY
In addition to the best possible quality, responsibility towards nature is always at the heart of what we do. We do not see nature and culture as opposites, but rather - closely interwoven - as an inseparable unit. In addition to the VDP.Adler, the FairChoice logo adorns our labels. FairChoice is an established seal for controlled, sustainable production and marketing of agricultural products and takes all three dimensions of sustainability into account equally: ecological, social and economic. The seal does not focus on partial aspects, but pursues a holistic approach.
